Orlando 4th January, 2012; During the holiday period, the FPS / FC America U15 boys captured the highly regarded Disney Soccer Showcase held at the ESPN World Wide of Sports complex in Orlando, FL.
Despite trailing 1-0 at half time to MLS youth outfit Chicago Fire Academy, the team rallied with a pair of second half goals to clinch the championship game by a 2-1 final score.
“The Disney Soccer Showcase is a tremendous event held at a fantastic complex and places our players against high level opposition and in front of a large college coach representation,” said FPS General Manager Alan Hough. “It was pleasing to win the event after a series of great performances throughout the week.”
En-route to the championship game, the FPS / FC America side, which includes US youth national team players Tommy Redding andAbuchi Obinwa, defeated Upper Freehold Strikers (NJ) 3-0 and CVV Stars (AZ) 3-0 before recording a 2-2 tie with Gwinnett SA Phoenix (GA)
“The boys played a terrific brand of soccer all week,” said Hough. “It was particularly pleasing to see the boys show great maturity rallying from a goal down against a quality opponent in Chicago Fire Academy. We look forward to our continued development as we move forward.”
